Black Ops WWII Edition

Rory brought over a new set of rules for us to try out yesterday. Black Ops! I believe this is primarily a modern era set of rules but, for yesterdays game was set during the later stages of World War 2.

The mission, to take out a high ranking German officer. The strike force comprised a squad of American Airborne troops with orders to attack at might and maintain silence until they could close with the enemy.

I initial approach went well with the Americans moving silently up to the the Chateau where the target was located. They discovered that the Chateau was protected by a small force of Germans including an armoured car. The crew of which was bunched down in an out building. The Americans managed to locate and dispatch the crew but the alarm was raised when a sentry discovered their entry point.

A firefight ensued resulting in the sentries being killed and the Americans taking casualties. By this time the alarm had been sounded and reinforcements where making their way to the Chateau. The Americans knew they had to act fast and sent the majority of their remaining men towards the chateau to take out the target leaving the LMG team behind to engage the approaching German reinforcements.

As the Americans approached the chateau the German officer decided it was time to make a break for it and fled the building. Unfortunately for him he was caught in the open and gunned down!

An entertains game system using playing cards to dictate who’s turn it was and an interesting mechanism controlling the sentries lending an air of the AI encountered in many FPS video games.
