We managed to fit in our first game of Warlords of Erehwon at the weekend. with only a brief look through the rules I decided to keep the game as simple as possible, no special troops, magic or monsters etc. and no Terrain!
Sunday lunchtime I quickly bashed together two ~750 point armies, Dwarves versus Beastmen. I kept the points deliberately low again to keep things as simple as possible.

No doubt we did a few things wrong but the game seemed to play out fairly well. One mistake I made was not copying out the stats for each of the units and consequently had to keep flipping through the pages of the rulebook to find them.

Beastmen Deployment
Dwarven Deployment
The Armies Meet
The Dwarfs push back the Beastmen
The Dwarven heavier armour proved decisive in the exchange of missile fire and the Beastmen archers were whittled down allowing the Dwarven warriors to close with the rest of the Beastmen. Again Dwarven armour won the day in close combat coupled with the fact that the Beastmen couldn’t get the rest of their forces to support those already in the fight.
I suspect that the next game will be more evenly matched as far as the Beastmen are concerned. Their advantage in numbers should be enough to neutralise the Dwarven advantage in armour.
An interesting game with both players looking forward to the next. We’ll start incorporating more troops, magic and of course more terrain as we play more games.
