Wednesday Nights Game

As you may have read from the previous post I had set up the long table for a big game of Chain of Command or BCoC and this week we had five players including myself. The game was fought between a British and Belgium force versus the Germans. Initially we was going to field three platoons a side but decided to reduce this to two.

Don and Dave played the Germans with Jeremy and Paul playing the allies and myself as general umpire and taker of photos! This was a first visit to Williton Gamers for both Don and Paul and we hope to see them again soon.

The game lasted around 3 and a half hours including setting up and discussing some rules tweaks to take in to consideration the size of the table. With hindsight to play the game properly as set out on the night this would have been better as an all day affair, maybe something we can consider in the future. In the end the result was pretty much a draw due to lack of time. The British lost one of their MatildaI’s to a flamethrower. We’d never had the opportunity to use a flamethrower against a tank before so this was really interesting. The crew bailed due to the shock inflicted. Nasty as the flamethrower was only at half effect due to movement. And the Allies and Germans each lost a section to a close assault, although there were a couple of Brits left after the firefight as they were defending a building. However, the accumulated shock from the close assault saw them break. There were also the usual casualties on both side from small arms fire and the Belgium light mortars but the loss of the Matilda and the close assault were the main points of interest.
